action and adventure book s Nicholas and Alison Lochel spoke about their journey of writing the series of ‘Zarkora’ books. The books are a creation of stories about two poor farm boys Neleik and Ervine Fyrelit who witness the kidnapping of their little sister, Skye. Together, the two boys undergo many challenges to get their sister back. Nicholas and Alison Lochel spoke about the series of books they had written together and answered many questions that were put to them. They also spoke about all the work that goes into publishing books, their ideas for the series and how they had to work so closely together. They discussed the highs and lows of being authors and where they got most of their inspiration from. It was also interesting to hear about how they self- published their first books, before approaching a publishing company. At present they have released two books in a series of four, and have successfully achieved the title of bestselling children’s series of books. During the visit Nicholas and Alison also gave us the opportunity to develop our writing skills. They provided us with the key features of a story and then created a story plan for us on the whiteboard. Together, the class with the authors came up with a great short story that we all were quite proud of. Before they left, Nicholas and Alison encouraged us to work on our writing skills everyday and jot down creative ideas whenever they come to us. Finally, they gave away three books, the first in their series entitled The Lost Kingdom, and inspired us all to be the best creative writers we can be. I really did enjoy the authors’ visit. Not only were we inspired to write and be creative, but we were assisted by two successful authors who had worked in the field. Overall, the presentation was very professional, educational and valuable, as it really did help to develop our writing skills. It was also entertaining and enjoyable! I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in writing and reading books. Meet the Authors Ariella, Year 8 On Friday 13 November Nicholas and Alison Lochel visited Mount St Benedict College in Pennant Hills NSW.
