On28January1919ThrossellmarriedAustralianauthorKatharineSusannahPritchard.Hebecameasoldier’srepresentativeontheReturnedSoldiers’LandSettlementBoard,becamearealestateagentandworkedtemporarilyintheDepartmentofAgricultureinWA.Unfortunately,duringtheGreatDepressionHugofaceddebtproblems.Helosthisjobwiththesettlementboardandborrowedlargesumsofmoneyinthehopeofhavinghisownland.Heattemptedafewmoneymakingschemeswhichonlylandedhimfurtherindebtandeventuallydecidedthathecouldbetterprovideforhisfamilybyleavingthemawarservicepension.Heshothimselfon19November1933atGreenmount,WA.Afterthewar To you, all those wild weeds and wind flowers of my life, I bring, my lord, andlay them at your feet; they are not frankincense or myrrh but you were Krishna, Christ and Dionysus in your beauty, tenderness and strength.
