Short stories the Colley Reserve, Dorothy noticed three young children, two girls and one boy, playing alone under a sprinkler. The girls, of primary school age, each wore a short pink dress with a knitted cardigann. The little boy, maybe four or five, wore brown shorts and a buttoned- down shirt. Dorothy also saw a man with short, blonde hair wearing blue swimming trunks, lying down on a towel about five yards from the children. Strangely, Dorothy didn’t think that the children were with this blonde-headed man, however he was watching them intently. Fifteen minutes passed and the shrill sound of laughter drew Dorothy’s eyes back to the children playing outside the Colley Reserve. She discovered that the man in blue swimming trunks was now playing with the children. Dorothy concluded her previous thoughts must have been unfounded, so stood up from the painted wooden bench, picked up her cane basket. Dorothy carefully placed her grazed ankle on the ground and started to walk slowly home. As Dorothy reached the other side of the busy street walking away from the Glenelg Surf Club, something made her turn around to see the three children and the blonde headed man, once more. To her surprise, they had already left the area outside the Colley Reserve. BANG! A gust of wind caused the front door to slam shut and also brought Dorothy’s thoughts back to the present. That cool change must be on its way she thought as she stood up from the lounge and walked into the hallway. Dorothy sat down on the little vinyl padded seat of the telephone table, lifted the receiver and dialled triple O for the police.
