Aimee, Year 9 Ormiston College Brisbane Qld Take Three Girls Cath Crowley, Simmone Howell & Fiona Wood Pan with high school drama and tension. Ady, Kate and Clem, despite their differences, bond together to face an online enemy, PSST – Private School Secrets Trackr. T As a fellow female this book really highlighted insightful truths into the degrading slander aimed at young women today. Since the boom of social media, gossip has entered a whole new level. The novel was extremely relatable, as it didn’t sugar coat high school life. All three of the characters faced difficult situations, which they had to surpass. I also enjoyed the separate diary entries for each character as I really could see each of their personal perspectives. Something I would like to see, is a diary entry 10 years later for each character explaining what is happening in their adult lives. However, I suppose the author may want the reader to imagine the characters and their future life journeys. I would rate this novel 8/10 as it was thoroughly enjoyable. Good for book clubs! ake Three Girls is a modern day ‘Gossip Girl’ infused Emily, age 12 St Leonard’s College Brighton East Vic r All the Things That Could Go Wrong Stewart Foster Simon & Schuster A ll the Things That Could Go Wrong is the story of two struggling boys in a bullying situation. Dan, the bully, has just lost his brother to jail and is waiting desperately for him to return. He takes out his anger on Alex, who is trying to cope with OCD problems. The boys’ mums meet at a ‘Star Wars’ movie and arrange for Alex to help build the raft that Dan was building with his brother before he left. This book is a moving story that is impossible to put down. To make things even better, it was an easy read, which means I could focus on the story and not the difficult words that other books use. I was engaged in every part and it was a realistic story. There’s not really anything I can talk about that’s negative! All in all, this story about two enemies becoming the closest friends shows you that there are two sides to every story and that nobody is who they are without a reason.
