Maya dodged every corner of the corridor with sharp turns with red flashing lights illuminating the hallway, warning her to escape. Maya walked through an abandoned park and sat down on a bench near the lake, ashamed at what she had done. There wasn’t anyone around, but she had a feeling that someone was watching her, stalking her every move. Suddenly, a shadowy figure stood underneath the streetlight, now slowly walking towards her. It sat next to her while removing its hood, revealing a face under the light of the lamppost. She was horrified at who was sitting next to her. As he turned to face her, his bronze hair shifted from its original place and caught the light; his sapphire blue eyes twinkling like the night sky. Those eyes belonged only to one person. Her crush since freshman year, Adrian Woods. ‘Hey,’ he said softly. ‘Hi,’ Maya responded quietly. ‘How are you doing?’ he questioned. ‘Okay, I guess? Why are you talking to me anyway?’ she asked. I’m a Vampire Slayer. That’s why I know what you are.’ Tears welled up in Maya’s eyes. She knew she was a monster, and he did to, but he didn’t accept that. ‘I know who you truly are. You’re kind-hearted, smart and… beautiful,’ he said quietly as he blushed. ‘There are so many words that I could describe you, but ‘monster’ is not one of them. I love you just the way you are.’ Now it was her turn to blush. ‘You said that you’re a vampire slayer, right? Doesn’t that mean you should stake me or something?’ Maya asked fearlessly. ‘It was my job to stake you. But I won’t. I would rather die instead!’ he exclaimed. A silver tipped arrow shot past her, just few inches away from her face. Adrian searched the trees for the shooter as Maya stood up, ready to fight.
