SHORT STORIES SUPER- SPIRITER’S STORY WILLIAM AGE 13 Aldridge State High School Maryborough Qld Spine Out DECEMBER JANUARY 2018-19 Ava Edward is a kid who has very irresponsible parents but Ava always finishes her homework on the first day she gets it. She hasn’t got a detention ever and always does as she’s told. She has a really good memory and often gets called the human dictionary, calculator child, and teacher’s pet. One day she hears a voice but when she looks for it no one is there. She turns around to start walking off then someone taps her shoulder but again, when she looks there’s no one there. ‘Listen to me,’ the voice commands. Ava freezes and stands still. ‘Please close your eyes and keep on standing still,’ the voice asks. Ava did it because she didn’t know what else she could do. A few seconds later the voice says, ‘Please open your eyes.’ Ava listened and opened her eyes and saw the voice. ‘How can I see you?’ Ava asks. ‘I have given you the ultra-gem. This makes you stronger and also allows you to see us beings. We are invisible to your species eyes but lots of corrupted people from my planet want to takeover Earth so we need you to save the Earth or all hope is lost for your kind. Do you want me to teach you how to use your incredible powers?’ the voice asks. ‘Yeah, but what is your name?’ Ava asks. ‘Call me Teacher because humans can’t pronounce it,’ the voice says. So they went to an abandoned building. ‘Alright, the gem is connected to you so just think that there is an armour on you,’ Teacher says. ‘Wait, what! It’s connected to my brain!’ Ava shouts. ‘I should have told you but do you want to be enslaved by invisible aliens?’ Teacher asks. ‘No,’ Ava answers.‘Then keep doing it,’ Teacher says. Then an attack on the city happened. ‘You need to go now,’ Teacher commands Ava. ‘What? I don’t know how to use my powers yet,’ Ava says. Then Teacher touches her head activating the gem and making armour appear on her. ‘Wow! I’m surprised. This is actually a good look on me,’ Ava says. ‘Is that what you are thinking about right now? Seriously?’ Teacher asks Ava. ‘Um ... but I still don’t know how to use my powers,’ Ava says. ‘Alright, see the energy gun on your belt? Just use that. Unless you don’t know how to pull a trigger?’ Teacher says. ‘That was so funny I forgot to laugh,’ Ava says sarcastically. ‘What? I was being serious. Some of you humans are complete stupid idiots,’ Teacher says. ‘Hey! You don’t have to be rude,’ Ava says in an angry voice. To be continued ...
