SpineOut : October 2012
Contents
6 chris Year 10 Sydney Boys High School, NSW I designed this poster for SpineOut as part of my Library Monitor duties. The poster has been hung around the entire school since its completion. The poster was made in Adobe Photoshop CS4, based on a concept sketch I did on paper. The background was taken from a stock grunge paper texture, and the lines through the logo were done with Photoshop’s line, custom brush and layer blending tools. Typography was pasted on and arranged last, with some minor enlargements and reductions for the final poster. One very exciting activity that happens during lunch breaks at St Michael’s College, Qld (Gold Coast) this year is the Year Eight Engineering Project. Two teams of up to four students constructed their own mechanised roller coasters. The boys did a marvellous job displaying creative dexterity, ingenuity and team building skills. It’s a rollercoaster Here’s wHat tHe boys saId ... Building the roller coaster was just so much fun. I would say it’s the best introduction to high school I have had. Lucky Joe I found it very frustrating at times, as we often went ahead with the construction before checking the instructions. WiLLiam I would definitely advise people to build in groups, some sorting while others are building and then swap around. NathaN We had pieces of track that didn’t fit properly so it’s important to buy a brand name that is good quality. thomas your stuff Thomas William Braydon Nathan issue 13 // october- november 2012 home // books // more books // even more books // and wow more books! // your stuff 2 In tHe future ...
